Bio

David Pickar MD, adjunct professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, is an internationally recognized clinical scientist and the former chief of the Experimental Therapeutics Branch at National Institute of Mental Health where he served for 22 years (Capt. 06 USPHS, ret.). A graduate of the Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Pickar is an expert and opinion leader in psychopharmacology, schizophrenia research and biological psychiatry and is a Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology. He is founder and president of Gabriel Sciences LLC (formerly Gabriel Pharma), a company with the mission of furthering the understanding and treatment of mental illness. He is also founder of Potomac Pharma Inc, now a subsidiary of Houston Pharma.  Dr. Pickar has authored or co-authored more than 300 scientific articles, is the recipient of numerous awards and is the inventor of two US patents and two pending US and Global patents. In addition to consulting with industry and venture capital companies regarding product assessment in CNS areas, Dr. Pickar maintains a private practice in psychiatry at his office in Cabin John, MD.
